Books
Library Books
The following books are on reserve in the Natural Sciences Library:
- Physics for Scientists and Engineers, Serway and Jewitt,
Sixth edition. (The previous edition of the text book) Call Number:
QC23 .S497 2004
To request a book that is on reserve you must give the call number.
There are many other good introductory physics text books available in
the library. If you are having trouble with a particular topic, and the
explanation in our text just doesn't do it for you, try a different
book. Often a slightly different perspective helps. (Of course you are
always welcome to ask your Professor!)
Bookstore Books
- Multiple Choice Questions for Physics 111.6, Department
of Physics and Engineering Physics, U of S (February 1997).
A collection of multiple choice questions from an out of print text
book. A very large number of the questions are relevant to the material
taught in this course.
Entertaining Books
Here are some book which you might find instructive as well as fun to
read.
- The Cartoon Guide to Physics, Larry Gonick and Art
Huffman, All of mechanics and electromagnetism explained in an
extremely entertaining way.
- The God Particle, Leon Lederman with Dick Teresi,
A very entertaining history of physicist's search for the fundamental
nature of things.
- The Demon-Haunted World, Carl Sagan, About the
importance of the method of scientific thought.
